Just to explain the 'engrish'
I found this sentence in a subtitled video of a Japanese rock band,  I loved the weird English  and this phrase (with wrong spelling and all) hit me.

The little paper hat

                                                       Who knows who is underneath the little paper hat?
So suddenly I am illustrating again, it's simple and nice and now that I'm done with this little project, I realize that I missed it alot.

Just to tell you a little bit about the project:
The first great-grandchild of our family has been born a while ago, I already had a feeling that is was going to be a boy so as soon as I found out that the mom was pregnant, I began sowing. When the little hat was done I wanted to ad something to it to show the two different ways I looked at it so automatically i started painting.
The little set was done just in time!

The set contains a little cotton baby hat, which has the shape of a paper hat, or maybe a boat, that depends on the way you look at it. It has a nice paper like texture, colour and fibre. You can find a blue/grey ribbon on the bottom of the hat, attached to make it look like a little wave underneath a boat.

 So when the hat became a little boat, the desire to make a illustration with it became bigger. After quit a few drawings and paintings, the idea of the little kid with a backpack holding two kites in the air was formed. The kites became boats, the paper one for his childhood and the submarine (probably inspired by a uncle of mine) for his future. Meanwhile the sky became sea..

In the end the little set turned out quit nice, it suites my idea around new life and the way people hold there own lives,

It really has been a while since I made clothing, but I finally got inspired again by a dress with fantastic sleeves. I really liked the long second half of the sleeves, steady with the nice row of buttons.  Speaking of buttons, I´ve found some really nice buttons who helped me with the colour choice for the dress. the fabric of the lower parts of the sleeves is just a little bit different than the fabric of the rest of the dress, it´s just a nice little detail to make it just right. The beautiful lace on the front of the 'inspiration dress' made me think about the collar of the dress I wanted to make. And after a few sketches this is what I made:

 

It's all hand made beause i'm still a little afraid of the sewing-machine..
